Woke up this morning, needing a little music inspiration. Decided to scan Andrew's music collection. My eyes stopped at De La Soul -- 3 Feet High & Rising. My god, when was the last time you listened to this album. Not only did it take me back to 6th grade but the beats, the words, the sampling, it's all so good. Have a De La Day!
I know you loved Dub Side of the Moon, right? So now check our Radiodread from the Easy Star All-Stars. Imagine Radiohead OK Computer remixed as a reggae album = Radiodread. It is amazing, I can't stop listening to it. The album features: Toots, Sugar Minott, Citizen Cope, I-Vibes. It is so good, listen to the audio I just posted.
Jah Love!
It's been a month now since Dayn took his life and I feel like I never really had a chance to mourn him. Today at work, it's mellow I got distracted and well started googling him. What I found is exactly what I expected. Words of love, of how missed he will be, of how shocked we are, of what a giving and loving being he was. Dayn was a bright shining star, his twinkling blue eyes always made me smile. I loved his laugh, his pegged jeans, listening to reggae with him, reminiscing about Laguna days.
Dayn gave and gave and gave. That was always his style. But most of all he was fun, he went for it. I remember when he lived on Lighthouse Ave and the Laguna st. crew came over during a crazy winter storm. We all went walking thru the field to the ocean and fought the storm. The storm ripped through all of us and Dayn, he just kept smiling. On our way back to the house thru the field there was a pool of water that accumulated from all the rain. And elegantly Dayn dove right in--I think that is what he did on 11/21/06 dove right in. I know he did what he needed to do, but I miss you!
I wish that I had called you when I moved up here. I wished that I could have been with everyone in Santa Cruz for your memorial, to celebrate you! Dayn THANK YOU for being in my life, I will always remember you!
Have you ever secretly unwrapped a gift before the big day?
Submitted by Red Pen.Well actually there isn't one big day for me there are 8! So when I was a kid there was a gift a day, I think that Hanukkah taught me about patience though that is another story. I think I was about 7 or 8 I decided to go hunting for my gifts on the second or third day of Hanukkah. Jack pot, I found them. My mom had a yellow and orange 924 Porsche and there inside the trunk where my gifts. I didn't think I would find them so I was good--I only opened one box. Inside was this cool ESPRIT sweat suite. I admired it, tucked it back in the box and was excited for the night that I would receive this gift. That same night my parents gave me my present, yes the sweat suite. I remember looking at my mom after I opened it and wondered if she knew. Of course she did!
