I find this intriguing..the Vegetable Orchestra performs on instruments made of fresh vegetables. Their sounds must be seasonal.
My 07-08 New Years resolution was to rid our cabinets of all of the nasty skin and beauty products that are laden with harsh chemicals and cancer causing ingredients. One year down, many more to go! Here I am basking in my personal success and my bff reminded me about what used to be my main resource for researching new products to get the low down on how bad they REALLY are for you.
OH NO! To my horror I found that the nasties are still in my cabinet! How can this be! My lotion is JASON naturals, its Paraben-free, it has some organic ingredients..but I was fooled once again and found that this lotion rates a 7 out of 10 (10 being best of luck to you if you keep using this crap). I was a victim to marketing and packaging once again, and just when i was giving myself a serious pat on the back! My lotions is made from ingredients that are linked to cancer, reproductive toxicity, developmental toxicity...and thats just a few.
It's just another reminder of how little these items are regulated and how important it is to research what you are putting in and on your body every day.
Check your products here. If you find that your products rank above a 3, you may want to search for a better product. I know its nearly impossible to eliminate 100% of hazardous chemicals we take in on a daily basis (especially here in LA) ..but it is empowering to know you can take action and make a difference on some level.
I just found outthat Rivera now delivers hot plate room service to residents in the MetLofts...awesome! This means I
can now get a little taste of Rivera goodness in the comfort of my own loft!! ...if I can afford it that week. ;)
We were able to sample Rivera food and drinks at our building xmas party AND on New Years Eve with Yen and Tess. Great flavors and fun presentation (think Top Chef).
Their "mixology" bar's Rivera Cup (their version of a mojito with cucumber rather than mint) is something I've been thinking about ever since...mm...I could go for one now.
Chef John Rivera's philosophy: Food tells a story. Food is powerful. Food unites us. **
Sounds funky. Sounds nasty. Sounds like...dairy and cola together. Welcome, Pepsi White, released in October in Japan. Pepsi White = Yogurt + Cola Flavored soda. And only in Japan would they give this drink a test-drive. Pure chemical, most likely, but very intriguing none the less. I would definitely take a sip, not sure I could handle all 12 oz.
Fab Sugar thinks that they've found the ideal prescription for the best sunglass fit for anyone based on their nose and complexion. Does it add up?
Dark Complexion: Complement a darker skin tone with light-colored lenses.
Large Nose: Look to oversize frames to balance out proportions. Small frames will accentuate the nose.
Light Complexion: Contrast a lighter skin tone with dark-colored lenses.
Small Nose: Choose a high bridge that will lengthen a smaller nose.
Animal print minis, button-up jumpers, striped vests, tunics, and
cut-out bathing suits are just a taste of Rogan Gregory's eco-friendly
collection that hit Target stores on May 18th. I've only been able to find limited pieces at the Targets around me, and mostly in size XL. I've also noticed you can also only get limited pices online so the hunt is on!
Gregory, who is a former Gap designer, drives three labels: ethical T-shirt label EDUN which he runs with Bono's wife Ali Hewson, Loomstate, an all-organic line of t-shirts and jeans, and his own edgier line Rogan.
